  Dentists

  driving along earlier i was when i felt something crunch in my mouth, put my fingers in, few good yanks and twists with a pair of old pliers and out came the beggar, much better than a dentist.. what are your teeth like and how often do you see the dentist?

  I decided to go private a couple of years ago after having a bad experience with my NH dentist. At the first check up he told me I needed to have a root canal redone which cost me 400 pounds before he would take me on denplan. Now I am checked up 3 or 4 times a year and my teeth are pretty good. I haven't had to add to my 7 fillings in the last 2 years.

  Actually I do have a horror story, when I wass about 13 I had a brace, the one with blocks on your teeth and a retaining wire. The wire was 3 ply plaited and decided to break out of the blocks and stuck through my cheek so I took the brace off including the blocks with a pair of scissors. My orthodontist was so pissed off he wrenched the remaining blocks off my teeth cracking the enamel of my front upper tooth leaving me with a dead tooth which is now black. I didn't go to a dentist for 10 years after that and by then my teeth were in bad shape needing a root canal and 5 or 6 fillings, he did cap the damaged tooth though so you cannot see it is bad from the front.

  Xena, that's the whole point Simon is making. He's not saying that America is wrong, he's saying that the things done in your name by your government are wrong. The things done in my name by my government are just as wrong. Remember that Britain ran the world for quite a long time before the US became a world power, admittedly we did it with more panache than you but we made a whole realm of mistakes along the way and acted in callous disregard for the rights of indigenous people.

  if you have not a care for human life, and would rather try to blow up thousands of people if given the chance, would you call yourself human?

  the reason i ask is, would you have any problem putting a gun to a known terrorist head and pulling the trigger?

  iono if i could do it yet, because i haven't been in that situation.

  I could do it without a second thought and not lose sleep at night. Would I? I'm not sure. There's alot to be said for the dehumanising arguement - Bush has done a good job of uniting America behind him using the dehumanising of the 'evildoers'. Next time he speaks analyse what he says and notice the blanket descriptions of the bad guys to lump them together as a dehumanised, faceless amorphous mass that needs fighting. It's interesting that it is the same sort of language that Hitler used against the Jews.

  Note, I am not comparing Bush to Hitler in any way other than the interesting psychological nuances used in their speeches. It is well documented here how I feel about Bush but I do not see him as a Nazi.

  A flood of emotions

  this has been a very hard month for me.. 18th anniversary of my brother's death;.

  meeting (after a 15-year hiatus) a long-time jw friend, in dire straights, and lots of deep-seated triggers being pulled in the course our conversation;.

  my closest, and longest (30-year and running) "worldly" .

  Ah, yes. Invading Iraq and deposing Sadaam was evil. After all, he was a ruling sovereign. We should have respected that. Never mind that he was a horrific, tyrannical dictator that murdered tens of thousands of innocent people for their religious/political beliefs. That damned Bush lied, lied, lied....We shoulda just left the poor guy alone.

  Interesting that you and Bush are not suggesting invading Saudi or Zimbabwe isn't it. When are the troops going to take care of Liberia or are you going to continually have selective vision when it comes to political expediency and the short attention span of the US media? Can anyone spell Afghanistan?

  the problem is that they marry them off at a rediculously young age to prevent fornication when they are nothing more than kids and even worse they are kids that have not experienced a proper adolesence. Not getting to know how the world works before getting married is a big mistake, I am glad I waited til I was past 30.

  I think it is possibly the same being a parent - my parents were still kids when I was born and made some terrible gaffs. I'm hoping that waiting til now to start a family will give me a better chance to avoid some of those mistakes and make a whole different set of mistakes of my own.

  Something Good In Your Life

  just thought it would be great to hear from everyone here about something good that's happening in your life.

  so much is said about the watchtower and it needs to be said but i thought it would be nice to hear some good things about our lives.. for me what is good in my life right now is the containers of vegetables and flowers i am looking forward to planting, the fine music i'm listening to at this moment and being here with you all.

  In september I married my best friend. She's the most beautiful woman I have ever met and the most amazing soul mate. I bless the day I tumbled out of a pub in Newquay and handed her my business card in a drunken haze, even more so that she kept it and called me.
